Iris McConnell is a multimedia artist from London. She is a recent graduate of the BA Fine Art course at City and Guilds of London Art School (2021-2024). McConnell is first and foremost a painter but works across painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation.

Her practice is centered around themes of excess and desensitization, consumer desire, and hierarchies of value, typically pushing non-art mediums to perverse extremes, and amalgamating imagery that is both saccharine and grotesque. Believing that caricature can get you closer to a real truth than an imitation of reality, this language has now become essential to her practice. Her work is intended as a garish confrontation that extends across the imagined, real, and symbolic.

As well as working in fine art, McConnell is a musician closely involved with the London music scene, co-founding the pop trio Girl Ray in 2015, and drumming with other musical projects. Additionally, she creates cover artwork for a number of bands and musicians.
